CM: People must help empower divyangs
LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday called on NGOs and individuals to help the state government in empowering divyang in the state.
Speaking at the state level prize distribution programme for divyang, the chief minister said that the state government was committed to empowerment of divyang, so that they could contribute to the development of the country. The chief minister felicitated 15 individuals and 5 organisations on the occasion.
Mukesh Singh, Bhagat Singh Yadav and Deepak Kumar Tripathi were given the award of best divyang employee, while Kuldeep and Komal Jaiswal were given the best divyang sportsperson award. The chief minister gave Divyangjan Prerna Srot prize to Mridu R Goel, Ram Singh, Rajesh Kumar Upadhyaya, Rakesh Yadav Roshan and Dharmendra.
Virendra Pal Singh Chauhan, , Prateeksha Sarki, , Ritu Suhas, Risha Varma and Yogesh Chandra Dubey were awarded for their work for divyang welfare.
Poorvanchal Grameen Sewa Sammiti, Rajkiya Bal Press , Rajkiya Mook Badhir Vidyalaya, Samarpan of Ghazipur were also awarded for their contribution in divyang welfare.
The chief minister said that the state government was running several schemes for welfare and rehabilitation of divyang. During the period of 8 months, the state government had tried to make divyang self -sufficient to face challenges.
The state government has increased pension amount from
Rs 300 to Rs 500 per month for divyang, while grant for artificial limbs has increased from Rs 6,000 to Rs 8,000. Grant for surgeries has gone up from Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000.
The support amount for marriages between divyang has been raised from Rs 20,000 to Rs 35,000, while money for the food of divyang students has been raised from Rs 1,200 to Rs 2,000 per month. Divyang have been given the facility of free travel in state road transport corporation buses within or outside the state.
He said divyang could do anything like Arunima Sinha, who despite facing amputation, conquered Mount Everest. Similarly, IAS officer Suhas LY won the gold medal in Asian Para Badminton. They had set an example for others with their hard work and courage, Yogi said.
The chief minister also distributed hearing aids to hearing impaired. Five divyang were given wheel-chairs, five were given tricycles and 20 others were given other aids and equipment.
The programmme was also addressed by minister of urban development Suresh Khanna , divyang empowerment minister OM Prakash Rajbhar and commissioner social welfare Chandra Prakash.
