GORAKHPUR : Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said major problems like terrorism, naxalism, separatism and corruption could be eliminated by inculcating patriotism in individuals .

The chief minister, who shared the dais with his Uttarakhand counterpart Trivendra Singh Rawat, was speaking at the 85th foundation day programme of Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad in Gorakhpur. This parishad is the academic wing of the Gorakhnath temple which Adityanath heads as the chief priest.

“The reason behind naming (the organisation) Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad was to inculcate the feeling of patriotism, sacrifice and devotion among students who study here . The fact is that the country can be freed from terrorism, naxalism, separatism and corruption with the feeling of patriotism.”

The chief minister said the Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad, which runs 45 schools, colleges and medical and engineering institutes, was set up in 1932 by Mahant Digvijaynath, the mentor of Adityanath’s guru Mahant Avaidyanath.

Adityanath told students both education and technical knowhow were needed to progress in life, but discipline was the most important factor.

“North Korea has both education and technical know-how but due to indiscipline of its dictator, it has emerged as a threat to the whole world,” he added.

The CM said his government had cancelled several holidays commemorating great personalities to let students know about such icons in their classes.

He called for a holistic education system where education was within everyone’s reach and there was no discrimination. Yogi exhorted teachers to take part in the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ to make it a success.
