Cuisine, diversity make India an integral part of their world tour

AGRA: After having travelled more than 18 nations, this couple from Germany finds India an exotic destinatio­n due to its diversity and cuisine.

Marco Braeunig, 37, a photograph­er and native of Nuremberg city of Germany is on a 42,000-km world tour in his truck along with his wife Ananda Rani Braeunig, 32, a reporter by profession.

Beginning from Germany in October, the couple has travelled Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Albania, Greece, Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Armenia, Georgia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Nepal, Pakistan and India.

They reached Amritsar after travelling all through Pakistan. Most of the time, the duo lives in their vehicle.

On Monday, they were in Agra and left the city after the hospitalit­y extended by an Indian friend here.

“The love for travelling and seeing the world is the motivation that made me drive from Nuremberg. Coming across different people, cities and their lifestyle interests us,” said Marco Braeunig.

“We have travelled roughly 42,000 km. We would remember the Indian food which is special in its own way,” said Ananda who cherished the food she had in Lucknow, the city they visited before coming to Agra.

She also spoke about her mother who was from Goa.

Vikram Saluja from ‘Hum’ – an NGO – extended a warm welcome to the couple and loved the quality time he spent with them.
