HOSTS LUCKNOW IN STATE HOCKEY SEMIFINALS

LUCKNOW: Hosts and defending champions Lucknow stormed into the semi-finals of the Jaman Lal Sharma Memorial State Hockey Tournament for KL Garg Trophy, notching up a fascinatin­g 14-0 win against Puranpur, at the KD Singh ‘Babu’ stadium here on Monday.

Hosts boys dominated the proceeding­s from the very start of play, helping the side lead 9-0 at the break. Krishna Mohan shot four goals, followed by Shiva Kanojiya (3 goals), Aquib and Alok Mishra (2 goals each), Siddhant Rawat and Rahul Kanojiya shared a goal each.

In other quarterfin­als of the day, Etawah beat Agra 5-0, Ghazipur beat Muzzafarna­gar 3-0, and Vivek Academy (Varanasi) beat Allahabad 11-0. The two semi-finals are slated to be played on Tuesday.

HOCKEY TRIALS

Trials to pick junior girls team at the district and regional levels would be held on December 7 and 8, at the KD Singh ‘Babu’ stadium here at 2.00 p.m. Selected team would be participat­ing in the state tournament, scheduled to be played from December 15 to 20 at Etawah.

MIRZA SOCCER

The 8th Captain Qaiser Mirza Memorial football tournament will be held from December 11 to 19, at the Chowk stadium here. All registered units/clubs of the district football associatio­n are eligible to participat­e in this tournament.

CRICKET TRIALS

Cricket Associatio­n Lucknow would be conducting under-14 zonal trials here on December 6 and 7. Players from Sitapur, Behraich, Sultanpur, Unnao, Lakhmpur Kheri, Barabanki and hosts Lucknow can participat­e.
