Congress should expel Aiyar for remarks against PM: Mulayam
AGRA:Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav on Sunday criticised the Congress for ‘partly’ acting against its leader Mani Shankar Aiyar who had used objectionable words for the Prime Minister. He advocated expulsion of Aiyar from the Congress for such comments.
Yadav was in Mainpuri to attend the ‘tilak’ function of SP leader Satish Singh Rathore and was interacting with media at the guest house.
‘Congress has only suspended Aiyar for making such objectionable comment against Prime Minister Modi. We have differences with the BJP on policy matters but Prime Minister is the elected leader of the masses and so Aiyar should have been expelled from the party,” he said.
Yadav senior did not spare his son and SP president Akhilesh Yadav for his decision to contest five assembly seats in Gujarat. He claimed that during his leadership, SP had performed well in Gujarat assembly election in the past but this time all five candidates would lose.
He was also critical about selection of candidates during the recent local bodies election in Uttar Pradesh and again reminded about the party’s performance when he led the party.
Replying to a question about electronic voting machines, Yadav endorsed the nationwide suspicion and stated that a technologically sound nation like Japan also used ballot papers in election. He advocated election through ballot papers to maintain transparency.
Like in the past, this time too Mulayam was nostalgic about his relation with Mainpuri where he taught as school teacher and said he would contest the next Lok Sabha election from Mainpuri, close to his heart.
When asked about the fate of present MP from Mainpuri and his grandson Tej Pratap Yadav, Mulayam questioned the media’s concern over it and said he would take an appropriate decision about it.
