Great thrust on tech edu under CM Yogi: Minister
LUCKNOW:UP technical education minister Ashutosh Tandon said here on Monday that under chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, there was great thrust on technical education.
Tandon said, “The government’s focus on improving the quality of technical education in the state is evident, from laboratories in government engineering colleges and provision of Rs 200 crore for Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya quality improvement scheme.”
The minister was inaugurating the fibre optic and networking laboratory developed in the Centre for Advanced Studies here at Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) on Monday.
Engineering students will now get hands-on training on optical fibre cable and networking from a telecom service provider. The centre will be used for faculty development programme and imparting hands-on training to engineering students.
The course material will be made available by Reliance Jio infocom and exams will be conducted online. Vice chancellor Vinay Kumar Pathak said efforts were on to fill up the vacant post of teachers in engineering colleges.
Besides, students will also be engaged in special projects. Reliance Jio had set up a centre on the campus to train students, said Manish Gaur, director, centre for advanced studies, AKTU. He said the students would also be provided with smart internships and assignments. Reliance Jio would provide ‘train the trainer’ programmes for the colleges.
“The lab would create an ecosystem to ensure students are provided with best facilities to acquaint themselves with new age technology,” said Pathak. .
Internet giant and search engine Google is establishing its coding lab on AKTU’s Lucknow campus. This would give the students and faculty an opportunity to work with Google and develop an app for its utility services in Java.
