Three-day int’l AgriHorti expo starts today

LUCKNOW: Eighty-four companies, including 28 from Japan, will take part in the three- day 5th internatio­nal AgriHorti Tech Exhibition organized jointly by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the state government from Tuesday. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath is likely to inaugurate the exhibition.

Companies from US, Israel, Denmark and France will also set up their stalls. Agricultur­e, horticultu­re, livestock, dairy, fisheries and food technology related stalls would come up at the Smriti Upvan.

Apart from this, agricultur­al and related industries, banks, NABARD and other financial institutio­ns, insurance agencies and agricultur­al research institutio­ns are also taking part in the expo.

A large number of farmers and those concerned with agricultur­al activities and business negotiatio­ns are also expected to take part.

Academic and cultural activities, including seminars on relevant subjects have been organised for the benefit of farmers .

“This is for the fifth time in a row that the internatio­nal exhibition on agricultur­e expo is being organised in Lucknow,” said Lalit Khaitan, chairman, PHD chamber of commerce and industry.

“The expo will provide a platform to companies to showcase new products, technologi­es and schemes for the benefit of farmers and farm technologi­es,” said Khaitan.

Also present on the occasion, Anil Khaitan, president, PHD Chamber of commerce and industry, informed that the organisati­on would install ‘green wastage processor’ machines at religious places all over the state to reprocess flowers and other waste dumped at

these places.

“To start with, we will install first such machine at Gorakhnath temple, Gorakhpur. The machine will reprocess the waste (flowers) into ‘hawan samagri’ which will be given to devotee free of cost,” said Anil Khaitan.

The PHD Chamber would install these machines free of cost under the corporate social responsibi­lity.

The Chamber has taken this initiative to carry forward Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat campaign forward.

Sports activities have also been planned at the event.

Renowned singer Padma Shree awardee Malini Awasthi would perform during the expo.
