Kovind’s special praise for 2 students of Ambedkar varsity
LUCKNOW: President Ram Nath Kovind showered praise on two BBAU girls – Sushma Verma, the youngest Indian to get enrolled in a PhD course at the age of 15 and Neelu Sharma who got admission in the PhD course under the single girl child scheme of the university. He mentioned these two girls’ name twice in his speech.
Sushma could not believe her ears when the President mentioned her name in his address. “I was speechless when I heard him mentioning my name. It was a great feeling to speak in front of him,” said this child prodigy.
She became the country’s youngest matriculate at the age of 7 and the youngest to get admission in post-graduate course at BBAU at 13 years.
“I’m feeling blessed that the university allowed me to speak in front of the President. I am extremely happy to achieve this feat. This is nothing short of a dream come true,” said Sushma.
In January 2016, Sushma had received a medal from Prime Minister Narendra Modi at BBAU’s convocation. She did M Sc in environmental microbiology. The university gave her a scholarship and hostel seat as she comes from a poor family. Her father, Tej Bahadur, is a school dropout and mother is a homemaker. Neelu got UGC Swami Vivekananda single girl child scholarship in April wherein she is getting ₹30,000 per month as a research fellow. She was thrilled as she got to speak in front of the President.
