ASSN DOWNPLAYS TUSSLE
The IAS Association is downplaying the ongoing IAS-IPS tussle saying there were no differences between the officers of two cadres or the associations representing them.
The association skipped a discussion on DGP Sulkhan Singh’s objections to chief secretary Rajive Kumar’s circular that asked district magistrates to preside over meeting to review crime of their districts.
“We have no differences at all. Any concerns of UP IPS Association may be discussed after the IAS Week,” said UP IAS Association secretary Alok Kumar. He said there was no discussion on the issue at the association’s annual general meeting on Friday.
Chief secretary Rajive Kumar also said there was no confrontation between IAS and IPS officers and both would work together.
“There is no confrontation. We will work together,” said the chief secretary.
Kumar was asked to comment on letter that UP IPS Association secretary Asim Arun had sent to him ahead of UP IAS Association’s annual general meeting on Friday.
In his letter Arun referred to chief secretary’s circular and requested to reconsider his circular as there was a need for DM and district police chief jointly presiding over meetings to review functioning of departments like district jail and probation officers etc.
