LUCKNOW: The state election commission (SEC) on Monday rejected the Lucknow divisional commissioner’s probe report on the alleged irregularities in voters’ lists in Lucknow district, terming it ‘vitiated’ and ‘unacceptable’.

The SEC has asked the commissioner to appoint a fresh committee to probe the complaints, thoroughly and properly, and submit the report by January 17, 2018.

The SEC has also insisted that ADM, finance & revenue, who is also election registration officer, be not made member of the new committee.

“The only conclusion that can be drawn from the perusal of the committee’s findings is that only the BLOs have been held responsible for all the irregularities in the voters’ lists, fixing no responsibility of the supervisory officials,” the commission has said.

It further said the entire inquiry report has been vitiated due the fact that ADM, finance and revenue, as an election registration officer was primarily

Following complaints of missing of voters names from the electoral rolls for civic polls in Lucknow district, state election commissioner SK Agrwal had on November 25 ordered an inquiry into the charges.

Commissioner Anil Garg then appointed a panel comprising among others, ADM, finance and revenue, to probe the complaints. On examination of the probe report, the SEC found it to be superfluous and prepared without talking to the complainants and so rejected it.
