Govt doctors to wear black badges today as mark of protest

LUCKNOW: Government doctors in the state will wear black badges during duty hours on Thursday to protest the action against their counterpar­ts in Rajasthan.

The Provincial Medical Service Associatio­n (PMSA) -- a body of government doctors in Uttar Pradesh -- has condemned the action taken against doctors in Rajasthan and have decided to protest in the matter.

In a meeting on Wednesday, PMSA general secretary Dr Amit Singh said doctors in Rajasthan had started their agitation in November, but after talks with their state government they had returned to work. “The Rajasthan government had asked for time to decide on the doctors’ demands and a deadline of December 18 was set. However, action against these doctors started before that -- on December 15. Some of them were even arrested. In cases, where doctors were not found at home, their family members were taken in to custody,” said Dr

“A delegation of the All India Federation of Government Doctors’ Associatio­n met the union health minister on Wednesday and another delegation of the associatio­n will meet the Rajasthan chief minister tomorrow (Thursday),” said Dr Singh. Dr DK Singh, Dr Anoop Bajpai and Dr Manish Shukla were a part of the Meeting organised on Wednesday.
