AHMEDABAD: The Gujarat Congress started a three-day ‘Chintan Shivir’ from Wednesday for a post-mortem of the party’s performance in the recently concluded assembly elections.

Senior party leaders, 77 MLAs, candidates who lost and district heads will introspect and discuss the reasons for not being able to reach the half way mark in the state.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi is likely to arrive in Ahmedabad on December 23, a day after meeting ends.

The party increased its tally by 16 compared to the 2012 polls by winning 77 seats this time but it still fell short of 15 seats to reach 92 — the minimum for being able to form the government.

“Zone wise, beginning from north Gujarat today (Wednesday), we will be analysing the results and discuss reasons that led to the outcome’’, said senior leader Arjun Modhwadia, who along with other 3 top leaders, including Shaktisinh Gohil, Siddharth Patel and Tushar Chaudhary lost.

“We will also introspect on why top leaders have lost. I am taking responsibility, at-least for myself...” he added.

State president Bharatsinh Solanki had taken responsibility of his loss a day after the results were declared on December 18. “There are some 16 seats that the Congress has lost by thin margin. The introspection for results and planning for the future course will be discussed in the 3-day meeting’’, said Solanki.

CONGRESS PRESIDENT RAHUL GANDHI IS LIKELY TO ARRIVE IN AHMEDABAD ON DECEMBER 23,
