LUCKNOW: A Class 9 boy of a city school accidentally hanged himself to death in Krishna Nagar’s Prem Nagar colony on Tuesday night while trying to copy Goddess Kali from a popular television serial aired on an entertainment channel these days.

The tragic incident took place when the victim, Chitranajan alias Ranjan, 14, was playing with his younger sister Gunjan, 9, and a few other children staying in the neighbourhood.

Inspired by mythological TV show, Ranjan declared to his peers that he will enact ‘Maa Kaali’ as shown in the serial.

“The victim’s sister and other children playing with him demanded that Ranjan must enact ‘Maha Kali’ in a way that his tongue pops out like that of the Goddess,” said Sarvesh Mishra, additional superintendent of police (ASP), Lucknow
