Security scare: Man tries to jump in front of CM’s car

LUCKNOW: A 30-year-old man tried to jump in front of the car of Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow on Saturday to draw his attention to illegal mining allegedly being patronised by BJP leaders. As Adityanath was headed to Lok Bhawan for an event, the man who had camouflage­d himself with the waiting media at the gate, tried to leap in front of the chief minister’s car when the CM’s fleet arrived.

LUCKNOW: A 30-year-old man from Sonebadhra was arrested here on Saturday morning while he tried to breach CM Yogi Adityanath’s security by jumping in front of his motorcade. He said he did the act to draw the CM’s attention towards illegal mining in Sonebhadra which was allegedly done on the behest of local BJP leaders.

The man, identified as Shyamji Mishra, jumped in front of the first vehicle of the CM’s fleet as soon as it reached the Lok Bhawan’s gate at around 11am.

The security personnel immediatel­y caught Mishra and handed him over to the Hazratganj police. The police arrested Mishra and booked him for causing interrupti­on in government work. The man said he had been staging protest at the Laxman Mela ground for past many weeks over the same issued and tried meeting the CM multiple times but in vain.

He alleged that two BJP leaders were involved in illegal mining of sand and concrete and local police was not initiating action against them.
