Woman abducted with family, gang raped after son elopes with lover

MUZAFFARNAGAR: A 45-year-old woman was allegedly abducted along with her family members and gang-raped by the relatives of a girl, who had eloped with the her son, police said.

The horrendous act of revenge took place in Nojal village of Shamli district about a week ago .

SP, Shamli, Ajay Pal Sharma said Raju, 26, (name changed) of a village in Baghpat district fell in love with 24-year-old Dolly (not her real name), who was studying in Ghaziabad. The couple later eloped from Ghaziabad.

Dolly’s family then contacted Raju’s parents over telephone and called them to their village. When Raju’s parents, his younger brother and brother-inlaw reached there on December 23, Dolly’s family allegedly took them hostage and assaulted them. They also allegedly gangraped Raju’s mother.

After two days, Raju’s brother managed to escape from the captivity and informed Thanabhawan police, who rescued the family.

On the basis of the complaint lodged by Raju’s family, the police registered a case of abduction and assault against four members of Dolly’s family, including the woman’s father, on December 25.

One of the accused was arrested on December 27.

Raju’s family met the SP on Friday after which he directed Thanabhawan police to also register a case of gang-rape against the accused.

Station officer, Thanabhawan, Ajay Pal Sharma said a case had been registered and further investigations were on. He said the woman was medically examined and the report is awaited.
