11 die as truck falls on car, tempo
AGRA: Eleven people were killed in an accident near Sirsaganj town of Firozabad on Sunday evening when a truck fell on a car, a three-wheeler and passers-by.
The accident took place at 5 pm on Sunday when a truck bearing registration number of Haryana fell on a car, a threewheeler and those on the road.
In all, 11 people including those travelling in the car, three-wheeler and on the road were killed on the spot, stated Manoj Kumar, SSP, Firozabad.
“The exact cause of mishap is to be ascertained. It seems that the truck driver was taking a turn when his vehicle fell on the car and the three-wheeler passing along. The truck driver fled but the vehicle was seized by Sirsaganj police,” he said.
Sources said four injured were brought to district hospital in Firozabad.
Police and magistrates reached the spot to maintain law and order as the locals were angry over the accident.
A crane was sent to the spot and the truck was removed for rescue work. Traffic was restored on the Agra-Kanpur highway and situation was under control, stated the SSP. “We are still identifying those killed. Those in the car are believed to be from Agra while those in the three-wheeler were presumably locals,” he added.
