Deputy CM to be in London for Edu World Forum

LUCKNOW: Deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma will be in London from January 21 to 24 to attend the Education World Forum, 2018.

Minister of British Council and cultural affairs Allen Gemmel met the deputy chief minister to invite him for the meeting.

The Education World Forum meet takes place in January every year. Here, the ministers from various countries representi­ng over two-thirds of the world’s population gather to debate future education policy, said Dinesh Sharma, deputy chief minister.

The event is supported by the Foreign and Commonweal­th Office (FCO), the department for education, the department for internatio­nal trade (DIT), the department for internatio­nal developmen­t (DfID), the British Council and the EWF industry partners of British Government.

Sharma said the changes made by the BJP in the Indian education policy had been admired by the world. The forum would offer three days of insight and inspiratio­n from leading education pioneers, policy-makers and education experts, where the officials and education ministers of the world would discuss education policies. An assessment of countries’ common issues and challenges would also be discussed.

He said impressed by the efforts of the government, the British Council had expressed its interest in cooperatio­n in the area of education with UP after Tamil Nadu.

Sanjay Agarwal, principal secretary, secondary and higher education, would also accompany deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma during the London visit.
