LUCKNOW: The associates of a murder accused cut the tongue of a man who was eye witness to the murder, in Paliya Pratap Shah village in Faizabad district on Thursday. The police have registered an FIR against four persons and constituted teams to nab the criminals who are absconding.

A year back, Janakraj Singh alias Barrister (38) had seen one Jitendra Tiwari (30) being shot dead by Ram Padarth and Mulayam in the village. He was later made prime eyewitness in the case.

Ever since then, Padarth and Mulayam had been unsuccessfully pressuring Janakraj to withdraw his name as eyewitness. On Thursday, while he was working in the field, four associates of the murder accused caught hold of him and cut his tongue with a knife. They told Janakraj now he will not be able to give a statement in the court even if he wanted to.

Janakraj has given a written complaint to the police about the incident and named those who cut his tongue.

SHO of Inayat Nagar police station Accheylal Saroj said an FIR had been registered and police were trying to nab the accused.
