LUCKNOW: BSP MLA Mukhtar Ansari was discharged by the doctors of Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) here on Thursday, after being kept under observation in the ICU for 48 hours. However, his son has accused some ministers in the state cabinet for pressurising the doctors for Ansari’s early discharge from hospital, despite him having suffered a heart attack.

On Tuesday night, Ansari was admitted to the PGI with symptoms of cardiac pain and anxiety. But his angiography report was normal.

The medical bulletin of SGPGIMS neither confirmed nor denied any cardiac arrest. It only said Ansari was normal as per the angiography report.

His son Abbas Ansari accused some ministers in the state cabinet of conspiring against his father and pressurising the doctors to discharge him despite weakness and illness.

He said some ministers didn’t want his father to stay in Lucknow.

However, head of the department of cardiology, SGPGIMS professor PK Goel who treated Mukhtar Ansari, said , “Please keep doctors away from politics. He was discharged because he was fit enough to be discharged. PGI doctors treated him to the best of their ability and always want him in the best of health..”

Director, SGPGIMS, Prof Rakesh Kapoor said PGI doctors always gave best treatment to everyone, so there was no question of coming under pressure, as the patient’s health was supreme.

Lodged in Banda jail in connection with various criminal cases against him, Ansari was rushed to the district hospital in Banda after he complained of chest pain on Tuesday. He was later referred to the SGPGI.
