SHIMLA Father of a 26-year-old youth, who reportedly went missing in Himachal’s Kinnaur district, has filed a petition in Lucknow high court, demanding a probe by independent agencies.

The youth, who was an MBA student in IIM Lucknow, was reportedly last seen at a hotel in Kinnaur where he had checked in on July 19 and checked out on July 21. After failing to contact Subhadip, his parents had reached Lucknow from Kolkata on July 26 but they were told that he had left for Himachal.

Subhadip’s father Uttam Kumar Das, 58, and mother Sabita Das, 48, say that he has been running from pillar to post to find his son and that he had even met Union home minister

regarding the matter, but so far, he hasn’t got any clues about his son’s whereabouts.

The parents had also met Himachal DGP and other officials but to no avail.

Their counsel Indrani Gupta said, “We have filed a petition and the court will hear the plea on Friday. We have made Himachal DGP, DIG CID and SP Kinnaur as party besides officials of other states. We want the court to pass direction to shift this case to CBI or other independent agency and report to be submitted in four week’s time.”

The Kinnaur police had earlier issued a notice and also published a missing person’s notice in some local newspapers.

The Uttar Pradesh police had also initiated investigation after the IIM management lodged a missing person’s report on July 24.

Das had reportedly left the campus on July 18 for Delhi as per the attendance register. Lucknow’s on police station in-charge Raghvan Kumar said that the Himachal police is also investigating the case, registered under Section 364 (kidnapping or abducting in order to murder) of IPC. Das was reportedly in constant touch with a Lucknow girl, who he last texted on July 12, and asked not to talk to him, an officer said, requesting anonymity.
