Honour killing? Cops pull out body from pyre in Badaun
BAREILLY: A police team pulled out the half-burnt body of a 20-yearold woman from the pyre following allegation of honour killing, in Bisauli area of Badaun on Sunday evening.
The body was sent for postmortem examination to ascertain the cause of death. Police have registered a suo moto complaint and detained the victim’s mother.
Confirming the incident, senior superintendent of police (SSP), Badaun Chandra Prakash said, “Someone from the village in Bisauli reported to Dial 100 that a family was burning a body in the the open field. A Dial 100 team, which responded to the information, was further told that the woman was allegedly killed by her parents for honour.”
The police team then went to the spot and pulled the woman’s body out of the pyre, he said.

detain the deceased’s mother for interrogation,” the officer said.
According to police, the woman had an affair with a man of a different caste against the wish of her family members. “The family of the woman had fixed her marriage elsewhere. They killed her when she refused to marry and threatened to elope with her male friend,” a local villager told HT on Monday.
Station house officer(SHO) of Bisauli police station Ashwini Kumar said, “The mother of the woman has denied killing her daughter for honour. However, we are tracking other family members for interrogation.”
The postmortem examination was in progress till last reports came in.
