LUCKNOW: Katauli and Baniyakheda villages in Kakori witnessed hectic political activity on Monday with politicians rushing there to express solidarity with grief-stricken villagers.

Former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav visited the two villages and met Katauli village head, Hari Shanker Yadav, whose son Abhishek alias Komal, 20, was shot dead by dacoits for resisting criminals.

Along with the Samajwadi Party national president, leader of opposition in state assembly Ahmad Hasan, national general secretary of the party Rajendra Chaudhary and others were present.

The SP chief assured all possible help to the kin of the deceased and those injured in the incident.

Taking potshots at the Yogi government, the former CM demanded arms licences for villagers and job for the kin of the deceased and those injured in the incident.

“The Kakori incident has proved that there is ‘jungle raj’ in the state. During the BJP government, criminals have become fearless,” said Yadav.

He also demanded deployment of cops in the two villages till the dacoits were apprehended.

The former CM also accused the state government of ruining ‘Dial UP 100’ service launched by his government.

“How can you expect an industrialists to invest in the state when dacoities are being carried out in the state capital,” said Yadav. A delegation of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also met villagers of Katauli and Baniyakheda. District president of the party SP Bagi led the delegation that included Vaibhav Maheshwari, state spokesperson of the party among others. “The state government has failed on the law and order front. Criminals are having a field day across UP,” said Maheshwari.

“When dacoits are being carried out with such impunity in the state capital, then one can easily guess what the law and order scenario is in rest of the state,” said Bagi. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Ram Achal Rajbhar also reached Katauli village and met village head Hari Shanker Yadav, whose son was shot dead by dacoits. He also met the family members of those injured in the incident. Rajbhar also attacked the state government for “deteriorating law and order in the state.”
