287 yoga teachers not paid their remunerati­on

LUCKNOW : As many as 287 yoga teachers who trained aspirants for a month before Yoga Day on June 21, 2017 before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s programme at Rama Bai Ambedkar rally ground here, are still running from pillar to post for their remunerati­on (₹13,000).

A teacher in Lucknow University Amarjeet Yadav, who also runs a yoga institute, has shot a letter to the Ayush department to release the payments of all the 287 yoga teachers.

Hindustan Times is in possession of the letter dated January 18 ,2018 written by Amarjeet Yadav to secretary Ayush department which says that the office of the divisional commission­er cleared the dues of yoga teachers on July 14. But till date, no payment had been released and the teachers had also not been given any certificat­e for their efforts.

The letter says that the yoga trainers worked day and night to train aspirants ahead of the Yoga Day but today they were disappoint­ed because of this treatment. Secretary, Ayush department Yatendra Mohan admitted that payment of yoga teachers was due, as the department was yet to receive funds from the Ayush ministry.

“We have written to the ministry for fund and hope the money will be released soon,” he said.

Amarjeet Yadav said, “I have been assured by the officials that the payment would be cleared in the next five days. Let us hope that yoga teachers will be respected and given a certificat­e and money soon by the government.”
