Girl dies after stalkers slash her throat

-

GORAKHPUR:A 23-year-old receptionist of a private nursing home, whose throat was slit by unidentified stalkers while she was returning home on bicycle after attending duty on Friday late night, succumbed to her injuries on Saturday. The girl was being taken to PGI Lucknow where she was referred from BRD medical college following her critical condition.

Body of the victim Sunita Chauhan, daughter of Vijay Mall Chauhan, was brought back to Gorakhpur where it was sent for autopsy by police. Sunita had been living in a rented room with her friend Mansha at Paidleyganj colony since January 9. The room was just a few kilometres away from the nursing home where she was working. Sunita was originally a resident of Hata in Kushinagar.

Hinting at a possible love affair behind the murder, SSP Satyartha Anirudhdh Pankaj told HT, “As per fresh leads it appears someone known to the victim killed her. We are examining call details and CCTV footage to identified criminals.”

A case under section 307 (attempt to murder) of IPC, which was later converted to 302 (murder), was registered against unidentified criminals in Cantonment police station on a complaint filed by the victim’s uncle.

Eyewitness told police that two bike-borne stalkers came from behind the victim and patted her on the back. They attacked her with a sharp edged weapon and sped away under cover of darkness.

As Sunita fell on the ground screaming and bleeding profusely, locals rushed to her help. They covered her neck with a piece of cloth to stop the bleeding and called police.
