LUCKNOW: The students of the fine arts department at Dr Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University (DSMNRU) had been assigned with the task to beautify the boundary walls of Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport, said Rajiv Nayan, dean of fine arts department at the university.

“From Saturday, the students began painting the walls of the city airport. The task is to be completed by February 12. The aim is to beautify the airport ahead of the UP Investors Summit that will be held in Lucknow on February 21-22,” Pandey said.

The wall measuring approximately 1,000 square metres will be painted with the union government schemes like Skill India, Make in India, Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao and Clean India, Green India and others. The idea behind this was to raise awareness regarding these schemes among the masses, he said.

Director of airport authority AK Sharma inaugurated the task along with the 80 students of the university. DSMNRU decided to take this task after the airport authority approached them. “We see an opportunity for our students to leave a mark of their creativity at the airport where top investors will land to take part in the summit,” Pandey said.

“Graffiti, the definitive form of street art, is making a big mark in the city. Graffiti has become a tool for students to display their painting talent at a bigger scale,” said Professor Nishith Rai, vice-chancellor, DSMNRU.
