BAREILLY:On his first visit to Rampur as chief minister of the state, Yogi Adityanath attended a public meeting and distributed equipment to people with physical impairments on Saturday. “Our government is for all, we care for all, this function is part of our effort to bring people with physical disabilities into the mainstream,” Yogi said after distributing a wide range of equipment from glasses to hearing aids to divyang people. “Our government has increased the pension for the physically challenged and we will continue working for you,” he told the gathering at the Physical College ground in Rampur.

Yogi also spoke about other policies of the government during the functionm inviting applause from the audience. He later trained his guns on his staunch rival and senior Samajwadi Party leader form Rampur, Azam Khan. In a veiled attack on Khan, Yogi said, “Hum Rampur main kisi ki gundagardi nahi chalne denge (We will not allow anyone’s hooliganism in Rampur). The people who have used marginal sections of the society for their political benefits will be dealt with strictly.”

Azam Khan, long running MLA from Rampur, managed to save his seat despite stiff competition from the Bharatiya Janata Party in last year’s assembly elections.

When contacted for comment, Azam Khan who was also present in the city on Saturday, said, “People can say whatever they want to but a large section of people in Rampur is feeling insecure . It is my responsibility to protect these people. I will keep working for them.”

Apart from Yogi, other BJP leaders from Rampur, including BJP MLA from Bisalpur Baldev Singh Aulakh also participated in the function.

Over 3,000 people of Rampur were also present .
