AGRA Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) leader Jayant Chaudhary on Saturday said activists of his party and farmers will ‘gherao’ the Vidhan Bhavan in Lucknow on February 8, the first day of the budget session of the UP legislature, and fill the building with rotten potatoes, if necessary.

“The Rashtriya Lok Dal activists and farmers will lodge such a protest at Vidhan Bhavan in Lucknow,” he added while interacting with farmers on Saturday.

Chaudhary blamed the BJP for failing to address farmer’s issues and warned that people will give a befitting reply to the party in the 2019 Lok Sabha election.

Chaudhary was in Khandoli town of Agra district on Saturday to pay his condolences on the death of son of farmer leader

He blamed the BJP for suicide by farmers and criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for remaining silent on the issue despite making promises about ushering in ‘achhe din’.

“The union budget is more of a jugglery of statistics with no relief to farmers. The Rashtriya Lok Dal had held mahapanchayats at Khandoli on January 18 and Barabanki on January 29, seeking relief for farmers and had given a 15-day ultimatum to the central and state governments to take steps in favour of farmers, but nothing concrete was done,” Chaudhary said.
