CM holds another meet with MPs, MLAs
LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath wants better coordination between his government and party organization and is busy bridging the gap between the BJP MPs-MLAs and his government on any issue ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
As part of a mechanism worked out for the purpose, Yogi has been meeting the MPs and legislators together in smaller groups to get feedback on the ongoing government schemes or new projects they may want for their respective constituencies.
Yogi met MPs and legislators of Akbarpur, Faizabad, Baghpat and Muzaffarnagar Lok Sabha seats on Monday. Those who attended the meeting included union minister Satyapal Singh and former union minister Sanjiv Balyan.
This was not Yogi’s first meeting with the public representatives. He has met public representatives from 60 Lok Sabha constituencies. He began holding such meetings last month and is expected to round it off by Tuesday.
As the exercise is expected to bridge the gap between his government and the party organization at various levels, those working close to him call this a unique experiment.
“Yes, this is a unique exercise undertaken by a chief minister in state in recent years as projects involving an expenditure of up to R100 crore are approved on the spot after getting feedback from the official team present there. As of now at least one project like roads, bridges or girls inter college has been sanctioned in each Lok Sabha constituency. We are sure this will ensure a better coordination not only between the government and party organization but also among the public representatives,” said sources associated with the exercise in chief minister’s secretariat.
Much significance is being attached to the exercise as the party leaders, including some MPs, have been raising their voice against lack of coordination between the government and the organization. At the behest of BJP chief Amit Shah, the party had formed 23 working groups headed by ministers to establish better coordination with the organization at various levels. On January 23, Yogi convened a meeting of his ministers for similar purpose.
He also asked the ministers to gear up to ensure that people’s grievances were resolved at district level and benefits of government schemes reached them.
