Sales & marketing top profile, finance next

LUCKNOW: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM)-Lucknow claimed that it has completed the final round of placements for the 2016-18 batch of the twoyear post graduate management programme.

The top segments based on functional roles offered were sales and marketing (24%), finance (23%), consulting (23%), e-commerce (12%), systems/IT (7%) and general management (11%). Another highlight of this placement season was the increase in number of offers from major management consulting and financial firms.

Continuing the legacy of 100 percent placements, this year also IIM-L has placed all its 445 students. The placements concluded with a total of 454 offers being made by 143 recruiters, including 47 new recruiters, for a batch of 445 students. The offers included 20% increase in the number of pre-placement offers, 30% increase in the number of offers from higher entry placement process (HEPP) and 220 offers from the final placements.

Prof Nishant Uppal, chairman, Students’ Affairs & Placement, attributes this to the institute’s excellent pedagogy and the competency and values students acquire here.

“With this year’s placements, IIM-L has yet again reinforced its presence among the top B-schools in the country and has proven to be a preferred destinatio­n for organizati­ons which select barely 2-3 B-schools to recruit,” said Uppal.

Prominent recruiters in HEPP were Aditya Birla Group, Amazon, Accenture, Citi, Deloitte, Everest Group, Flipkart, Hinduja, KPMG, PwC, Paytm, Tredence Analytics, Yes Bank.

The highlight of this placement season was the participat­ion of firms like Alvarez and Marsal, Citi Markets, Kotak, McKinsey and Company, Fidelity, MasterCard Advisors and The Boston Consulting Group.

FMCG, TELECOM AND DIGITAL MEDIA SECTOR

The FMCG, telecom and digital media sector saw some of the top firms being Airtel, AB InBev, Dr Reddy’s, GSK, Hindustan Unilever, ITC, Nestle, P&G, Reckitt Benckiser, Samsung and Star TV among others. In addition to the traditiona­l sales & marketing roles, these firms offered roles in supply chain management, IT and corporate finance and analytics.

BFSI SECTOR

Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) sector saw the participat­ion of a number of internatio­nal firms hiring for a diverse set of profiles.

BFSI sector saw participat­ion from firms such as American Express, Altisource, Avendus Capital, CRISIL, Citi, Deutsche Bank, DBS, HSBC, ICICI Bank, Kotak, o3 Capital and Société Générale and others. The major roles were in investment banking, global markets, investment research, corporate, wholesale, retail banking, market research, trading and operations.
