KHADI POLICY APPROVED
LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh cabinet on Tuesday approved Khadi and Village Industry Development and Employment Promotion Policy that proposes to create one lakh more jobs.
The cabinet also approved a proposal for merger of staff of entertainment entertainment tax department in commercial tax department.
The entertainment tax department has ceased to exist after GST came into force on July 1, 2017. UP minister for medical and health and government spokesman Siddharth Nath Singh said the policy would create a conducive environment for setting up of khadi and village industry.
The cabinet also approved the proposal about distribution of sweaters to students of class 1 to 8 in primary schools and junior high schools.
Singh said the scheme for distribution of sweaters that came into force on January 6, 2018 provides for distribution of sweaters to 1,542300 students.
A sum of Rs 390 crore had been earmarked for the scheme with each sweater costing Rs 200. By Monday, 98 lakh sweaters had been distributed, he said. An amendment to UP Basic Education (Teachers) Service Rules 1981 to allow appointment in state of teachers eligible for appointment as teachers in other states. The state cabinet decided to implement track and trace system to check pilferage in excise department. It approved another proposal for fixing pay of ex-servicemen after adjustment of pension following their reemployment on civil posts of government.
