LUCKNOW The Opposition has hit out at the state government over the fact that over 10 lakh students have skipped the ongoing UP Board exams. One leader went to the extent of asking whether the students will sell pakodas now.

Samajwadi Party spokesperson and former minister Rajendra Chaudhary said: “The government has terrorised the students. Without concentrating on studies, the government is focusing on exams. The students did not get proper classes throughout the year. Now, the students are under stress all the more because the government aims to showcase a large number of students who are skipping exams (because of government’s stance against copying). The government is inflating figures. And to inflate figures, a lot of students were being debarred from entering as the board did not provide them proper admit cards or other formalities were incomplete.”

Sunil Singh Sajan, another spokesperson for the party and youth leader, said, “What will these 10 lakh students do? Will they sell pakodas following Pradhan Mantri’s (PM Modi) suggestions for the youth of the country? And who will eat all those pakodas if so many students open pakoda shops?”

Sajan too said that the government was terrorising students. “If you have installed CCTV cameras at exam centres, then why is the deputy CM inspecting exam centres using a helicopter? He is terrorising students.”

Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) spokesman Zeeshan Haider targeted the state government saying the data being provided on the issue was fake. “Every year 10% students do not take exams and the government is fudging figures on the issue. If a large number of students are not taking examination it raises a question on the Yogi Adityanath government as well. It has not been able to bring about any improvement on the scenario on the education front,” said Haider.
