Orations to mark 63rd foundation day of KGMU’s surgery dept
LUCKNOW A surgical education programme ‘Pursuits of quality care’ will be organised to mark the 63rd foundation day of the Department of Surgery (General) at King George’s Medical University on Monday.
Addressing a press conference, HoD Prof AA Sonkar said that scientific programme includes two orations, one guest lecture and one state of the art lecture. Prof MLB Bhatt, vicechancellor, KGMU, will deliver lecture on ‘Principles of radiotherapy in oncology’. Prof Venkatramani Sitaram, senior consultant in HPB surgery, will deliver Prof SC Mishra oration on ‘Mentors in surgery’.
Prof Gangaram Verma, surgical gastroenterology division, PGIMER Chandigarh will deliver Prof PC Dubey oration on ‘Radical resections in masquerading bilio pancreatic tumours: Can we avoid?’. Prof Asif Jah of Cambridge University Hospital UK will deliver Prof TC Goel guest lecture ‘Liver fat to liver transplant’.
Giving brief about the activities in the department, Prof Sonkar said this year 54,299 patients have attended the OPD of the department and 9,571 operations were performed in the department. Advanced laparoscopic, endoscopic procedures are being increasingly performed in the department. There is extensive emergency work also. During the foundation day programme, some of the outstanding staff will also be awarded. The names are nursing staff Madhulata, chowkidaar Rajkumar and technical staff Akhilesh.
