LUCKNOW: In a joint operation carried out by the Sarojini Nagar and Krishna Nagar police in the wee hours of Tuesday, a historysheeter Sandeep Kori was arrested after a brief encounter in Krishna Nagar area.

Another criminal Ravi Pasi managed to escape from the spot.

Kori received bullet injuries in his knee and is admitted to district hospital where his condition is stated to be out of danger.

He was carrying a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head and was wanted in several criminal cases lodged against him at Krishna Nagar and Sarojini Nagar police stations. Cops also recovered two country made guns, three live cartridges, three bullet shells and one motorcycle, which the criminals had stolen to execute a crime in the state capital.

“In the shootout Sandeep Kori has been arrested. Manhunt has been launched to arrest absconding criminal Ravi Pasi,” said Sarvesh Mishra, superintendent of police (East). During interrogation, Kori revealed that last year two days before Rakshabandhan, he along with his four other associates had looted two motorcyclists in Sarojini Nagar after grievously injuring them by stabbing. After sustained interrogation, cops also came to know that on the day of Rakshabandhan last year, Kori and his six associates had killed one Rajesh Rawat and had partially burnt the body to conceal the identity.

This murder was a contract killing, said cops. Kori and Pasi had also looted a motorcycle which they were riding during encounter on Tuesday.
