Ram Rajya rath yatra flagged off from Ayodhya
AYODHYA: With an aim to push the demand for construction of Ram temple, the 41-day long ‘Ram Rajya rath yatra’ was flagged off in the presence of BJP and VHP leaders here at 4pm on Tuesday.
The yatra, which began from the temple town will cover a distance of 6,000 km. It will pass through five states, including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Kerala, and conclude at Sri Ram Das Ashram near Padmanabhaswamy temple in Kerala, on March 25.
The yatra, organised by Shri Ramdas Mission Universal Society of Maharashtra in collaboration with the VHP will focus on five issues - construction of Ram temple, establishment of ‘Ram Rajya’ in the country, fix a date to be celebrated as World Hindu Day every year, declaration of Thursday as weekly off instead of Sunday and inclusion of Ramcharitmanas verses in the school curriculum.
The BJP is trying to strengthen its base in Karnataka which is going to polls and also establish itself in Kerala and the yatra may boost its efforts, believe political pundits.
The main organiser of the yatra Swami Krishnand Swaraswati and Sri Shakti Shantanand Maharshi said the VHP is also aiming to collect signatures from 10 lakh Ram Bhakts and 50,000 saints to support the five-point agenda that will be submitted to the President after the yatra concludes.
The yatra was flagged off from the local headquarters of the VHP at Karsevakpuram.
