AGRA Driver of BJP MLA Pooran Prakash thrashed the staff of Mahuwan toll plaza near Mathura when the boom barrier at the plaza fell on the legislator’s car on Tuesday afternoon, alleged Anup Yadav, the Director of AR Toll Ways Pvt. Ltd that runs the toll plaza.

“It is an automatic boom barrier which comes down once a vehicle passes and it came down after escort car of the MLA’s fleet passed. Yet the toll staff present on spot made best of efforts to stop the falling boom and were not at fault but had to face ire of staff of the MLA,” he added.

Yadav claimed that the truth could be verified from video going viral about the incident.

Prakash represents the Baldev constituency of Mathura.

The MLA later lodged an FIR at Farah police station of Mathura in this connection. The incharge of Farah police station in Mathura did not want him to be named but confirmed receipt of complaint by the MLA and stated that case would be investigated.

“I was moving towards CIRG (Central Institute for Research on Goats) at Makhdoom near Mathura and at about 11 am reached Mahuwan toll plaza on Agra-Delhi highway. The escort car passed off and my car followed it but all of sudden the boom fell dangerously on my car,” stated the MLA.

“The vehicle of MLA is exempted from toll tax yet the toll staff dropped the boom barrier on my car with an intention to cause life threat to me and I had to get down to enquire about the matter,” the MLA alleged.

He also alleged that the toll staff had ill will against him because he had been seeking exemption from toll charges for locals living within 20 kilometres area of the toll plaza for long.

The MLA, however, denied that the staff at toll plaza was thrashed by him or his driver.
