Speaking is an art. When delivered in an artistic manner, it has the capacity to enthrall us. Even an insignificant matter when spoken of in a certain way, becomes effective and can touch our hearts. An able speaker can articulate the most complicated of arguments, and make it easy enough for lay people to understand.

Speech is one of our most potent means of communication, the thing that sets us apart from the rest of the animal kingdom. But with this great ability comes great responsibility. Words have the power to hurt, and also to heal.

Therefore, it is important to use our words and speech judiciously. The consequences of ill-thought-out speech can be devastating in many ways, and we might end up paying a great price for it.

Many times, we end up speaking without thinking, and in doing so we may cause a lot of pain to someone else. The important thing is to always consider the effect that our words can have on those around us.

But words also have the power to heal. A few well-chosen words spoken in sympathy and affection can help someone recover from even the most grievous hurt. We must, therefore, try our best to use this power as much as we can.

By using our words judiciously, we can not only help in healing some of the hurt in the world; but can avoid spreading more hurt in the world. It is indeed a great power.
