Almas’s ton helps UPCA lift Dwivedi cricket trophy
LUCKNOW: A superb century by Almas Shaukat helped Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association lift the trophy of the 12th All-India Justice SN Dwivedi Memorial cricket tournament, defeating Air India by three wickets, at the Madan Mohan Malviya stadium Allahabad on Wednesday.
Almas struck 140 in 134 balls with the help of 10 fours and five sixes as UPCA romped home in 44.2 overs while chasing 303 in 45 overs. Madhav Kaushik’s 69-ball 74, which contained 10 hits to the fence, also made a big difference in team’s title triumph.
Earlier, Air India scored 302 for 8 in 45 overs while batting first after winning the toss. Opener Eknash Dobal top scored with 83, which came off 67 balls with the help of five fours and six sixes.
Rajesh Sharma (71, 66b, 4x4, 1x6), Aditya Kushik (50, 52b, 1x4, x36) and Ranjeet Sharma (32, 19b, 7x4) were the other main run getters.
For UPCA, Priyanshu Anand took three for 67, whereas Almas Shaukat had two for 46.

Jaipuria Red scored a convincing 57-run win against Jaipuria Blue in a league match of the 1st Under-12 Champions Trophy cricket tournament. Karan Singh scored 54-ball 72 as BSNV Institution defeated Colts Blue by 90 runs in a league match of the 2nd Shivpal Sawariya Twenty20 Challenge Cup Cricket Tournament, at the Pt Raas Bihari Tewari stadium here on Wednesday. In other match of the day, NYCC crushed Chauhan Sporting by eight wickets.
