Maneka body shames official in meeting

BAREILLY: Union woman and child developmen­t minister Maneka Gandhi reportedly rebuked and body-shamed a government official, accused of corruption, during a meeting in Bahedi block here on Friday, a video of which went viral on social media on Saturday. Maneka Gandhi could not be reached for comment on the matter.

BAREILLY: During a meeting with officials in Bahedi block here on Friday, union woman and child developmen­t minister Maneka Gandhi reportedly rebuked and body shamed a government official accused of corruption, as per a video which went viral on social media on Saturday.

In the video of the incident, the minister can be seen listening to the complaints of her party members and locals against food and civil supply department inspector Pashupati Dev.

“Sharam Karo...Ek to tum haram***e ki tarah mote ho...” the minister says, body shaming the official in a room full of district officials and locals. She further rebukes the officer and calls him “bahut bure aadmi (very bad man).”

Maneka Gandhi could not be reached for comment on the matter. Senior BJP officials and BJP district president refused to say anything .

Supply inspector Pashupati Dev also refused to comment on the issue and called it ‘an internal matter.’ Reportedly, Gandhi reached Bahedi on Friday morning and held a meeting with local officials. The incident occurred during this meeting. Gandhi also visited some villages and interacted with people .

“Maneka Gandhiji was upset over the poor state of public distributi­on system in the area and so she rebuked the official ,” said a local BJP leader (who was present at the meeting) on condition of anonymity.

After the meeting, the minister told reporters that she would initiate investigat­ion against the officials posted in Bahedi for corruption in PDS system.

She also accused local party leaders of turning a blind eye to these anomalies.
