Banks going ‘cashless’ under Modi, says Akhilesh
Says UP government making a big show out of the investment summit, showcasing previous SP govt’s work as its own
LUCKNOW: Reacting to Nirav Modi scam, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday said that while Prime Minister Narendra Modi is thrusting demonetisation and digital India initiatives on people, it is the banks that are going cashless.
“See how Punjab National Bank has become cashless,” he said while addressing a press conference on Rs 11,400 crore fraudulent loans to companies linked to billionaire jeweller Nirav Modi.
Akhilesh said, “Go to a bank, write an amount on a piece of paper and the bank will give money and then you run away from the country, such is the state of affairs in the present government.”
On UP budget and the upcoming investors’ summit, Akhilesh said, “I have heard that the PM is coming here to inaugurate the summit. I suggest that the CM should get all the money needed for the proposed Purvanchal Expressway from the PM because he had failed to allocate enough money for it in the budget.”
On credit over projects, Akhilesh said, “The BJP government has been showcasing SP government’s work as their own. Now, even I would also say that the BJP government has built an excellent Agra-Lucknow Expressway. I congratulate the government for this.” The Agra-Lucknow Expressway was constructed in Akhilesh regime.
Akhilesh said: “The government is making a big show out of the investment summit that all the states now organise. Let’s see how many investors invest. The investors are smart, then go to all the summits--be it West Bengal, Maharashtra, or Karnataka. But, I predict, whenever investments will come, they will come along the Agra-Lucknow Expressway that we have built.”
He said the current government has not done any work. “They did not create any jobs as promised in their manifesto,” he said.
