KASGANJ MURDER: ACCUSED WAS IN LUCKNOW ON RDAY, SAY KIN

BAREILLY: Relatives of a man accused in the murder of Abhishek Gupta alias Chandan in Kasgnaj during the communal clashes on January 26 have claimed that “he was not even in Kasganj at the time of the incident”. “Police have charged my brother, Zahid Illias ‘Jagga’ with the murder of Chandan Gupta. But, Jagga was in Lucknow at the time of the incident,” said Rafiq Khan, Jagga’s cousin.

According to the family , Jagga left Kasganj on January 25 with his friend Manoj Maheshwari to get the latter’s impounded car released from Gudamba police station in Lucknow . The family has also collected CCTV footage of Gudamba police station, toll booth and restaurants which the duo visited en route to Lucknow from Kasganj and back.

According to the FIR in which Jagga is an accused with 19 others, Chandan Gupta was killed at around 10.30am in Kasganj.

“Jagga returned to Kasganj on January 26 evening. How can he murder someone when he was not even in the city,” asked Rafiq.

Jagga’s wife Tarannum and other relatives submitted the footage to National Minority Commission on Thursday requesting help .

Chairperson of the commission Sayed Ghayorul Hasan Rizvi has written to UP CM Yogi Adityanath requesting a re-examination of the case.

“I have also requested to remove Zahid’s name from the list of accused in the murder case and ensure that innocent people are not framed in the matter,” Rizvi said.

Meanwhile, local investigators have not been intimated about any such request.
