Around 700 MoUs finalised for investors’ meet: Yogi
LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said that nearly 700 memorandums of understanding (MoUs), to be signed formally during the twoday investors’ summit beginning February 21, had been finalised.
He said more than 7,000 delegates had registered themselves for the summit. The CM was briefing media persons after making spot inspection of the Indira Gandhi Pratisthan, the summit venue, where he also held a two-hour meeting with ministers and officials reviewing the preparedness for the summit.
“We have already finalised around 700 MoUs, which we hope will get a formal shape on February 22, the second and the last day of the summit,” he said. The summit, the CM hoped, will lay the foundation stone for a prosperous and vibrant Uttar Pradesh.
He said the transformation that the state had witnessed during the last 10 months had sent positive signals to the investors in and outside the country.
Industrial development commissioner Anoop Chandra Pandey and other officers concerned gave presentations on the MoUs for various sectors that are likely to be signed during the summit.
It was decided that concerning ministers and officers would give power-point presentations during the summit explaining the potential of investment, among other things, in the state.
“The CM enquired about the sessions to be held during the summit,” industrial development minister Satish Mahana said. According to him, a total 22 sessions will be conducted during the summit, which, he said, was expected to be attended by 8000 delegates.
The CM also took a round of the venue and issued necessary directions to the officials. “The CM directed us to complete the preparations by Monday evening,” said Mahana adding preparations were almost complete and only finishing touches were being given.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the event on February 21, while President Ram Nath Kovind will be the chief guest on the concluding day on February 22.
Among union ministers, Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley, Nitin Gadkari, Suresh Prabhu, Nirmala Sitharaman, Smriti Irani, Hardeep Kaur, Anupriya Patel, Mahesh Sharma and Hardeep Singh Puri were scheduled to attend the event, said Mahana. The CM told the officials it was the responsibility of all government departments to ensure the success of the summit, which, he said, was an opportunity to change UP’s image. He said it should be ensured that central ministers, officers, investors were not put to any inconvenience in terms of their stay.
He directed UPPCL chairman, Alok Kumar to ensure uninterrupted power supply at the venue during the summit. He also asked the urban development department to remove illegal hoardings on way to the summit. The CM directed the Lucknow DM to deploy wellbehaved and efficient officers and staff at venue of the event.
ROHTAS FLAT ALLOTEES STAGE PROTEST
The allotees struggling to get possession of their flats in the Rohtas Builders’ Apartment for last 13 years staged a demonstration before chief minister Yogi Adityanath when he visited the Indira Gandhi Pratisthan to take stock of the preparations for investors’ summit.
Though the police did not allow them to get near the CM’s fleet, Yogi Adityanath, according to sources, assured the demonstrators of action on the issue.
