VARANASI: Giving a strong message to neighbouring opponents of India, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday said, ‘Bharat is not just a piece of land, which can be increased or decreased by force according to anyone’s wishes.’

He further said India believes in peace and follows the philosophy of ‘Vasudhaiv Kutumbkam’-the world is one big family.

“India stands for truth and treats the whole world as a family. It teaches the lesson of celebrating unity in diversity to the world,” Bhagwat said. However, he warned, it should not be taken as a weakness. Bhagwat was addressing 25000 RSS workers at Sampurnanand Sanskrit University (SSU) ground in Sangh Samagam organised by the RSS. He is on a six-day visit to Kashi.

Exhorting swayamsevaks to help build a stronger India, he said, “We have to work continuously for creating such a Bharat that shows the path to countries that have strayed from their goal of serving humanity. We will work in a dedicated manner for this cause.” Bhagwat advised RSS volunteers not to pay attention to criticism by opponents and instead focus on their goal by inculcating values, virtues in people so that India becomes a global leader.

“Now, only a handful people criticize Sangh to run their ‘own shops’ to earn livelihood. We need not pay heed to such criticism,” Bhagwat said and further added, “We (RSS) are Rashtrabhakts (patriots). Our nationality is not associated with any power. We work selflessly for peace, prosperity, and harmony of the country. We are known around the world for our honesty, peace and truth loving nature. People around the world trust us for these virtues,” Bhagwat said.

He said that even though tension escalates at times between India and China, the latter respects Indians for the rich diversity, values and culture. “Since ancient times Indians are known for these virtues and many foreign visitors to the country wrote about it,” he said.

Expansion of Sangh was another aspect that Bhagwat spoke about.

He urged RSS volunteers to make efforts for organising Sangh’s shakhas in each basti and every village and connect people from every caste, creed and society with the RSS on the basis of ideology of Hindutva, which he said is the identity of Bharat. He reminded RSS workers of selfless service several times during his speech, appealing them to give back to the society and nation by working for the cause of people.
