Deependra helps Rudransh Club bag Sahni cricket trophy

LUCKNOW: Rudransh Club won the 1st Gurucharan Kaur Sahni Memorial cricket tournament, defeating UP Timber Club by 40 runs, at the KD Singh ‘Babu’ stadium here on Sunday.

Deependra Pandey struck 56-ball 50 as Rudransh Club made 168 for 6 in 35 overs while batting first after winning the toss. In reply, UPTC got out for 128 in 31.1 overs with Ayush Negi scoring highest 28 runs. Gagan Mishra and Deependra Pandey took four and three wickets, respective­ly, whereas Ratnakar Maurya had two for 16.

Hosts Lucknow defeated Moradabad by eight wickets in the opening match of the Northern railway Inter-Divisional cricket tournament, at the Northern railway stadium here on Sunday.

VYOM SHINES

An all-round performanc­e by Vyom Gupta (3 wkts, 50 runs) helped Jaipuria Cricket Academy ‘Red’ beat Excellia Sports Academy by nine wickets in a league match of the 1st Under-12 Champions Trophy cricket tournament here on Sunday. In other match of the day, Jaipuria Cricket Academy ‘Blue’ beat SDS Juniors Club by 47 runs.

Ravi Shankar emerged champion of 5th NK Wal Memorial Open chess tournament, scoring 5.5 points. Anchal Kumar Rastogi finished second. In under-12, Dhairyash Dhruv and Aditya Pant in under-16 too emerged victorious.

NITHESH SHINES

Lucknow’s Nitesh Thakur won the boys singles title in the state sub-junior badminton tournament, defeating Allahabad’s Ambar Gupta 21-18, 21-13. Mayank Rakesh Jain and Daksh Gautam of Agra beat Yash Kapoor and Nitesh Thakur 21-16, 21-16 in the doubles final.

Kavya Kushwaha bagged the girls singles crown, defeating Rama Singh of Saifai 21-19, 17-21, 21-7. In doubles final, Rama Singh and Sujata Singh beat Arkaja Patle and Nidhi Vishwakarm­a 21-14, 21-11.

GOLF TOURNEY

Jitendra Kumar Tripathu emerged overall winner in the Indian Oil President’s Cup golf tournament here on Sunday. Other winners in different categories included, D Katyal, Vijay Mehta, VS Tomar, SK Dwivedi, Rashmi Dhaon, Prem Lata Gulati, Srishti Dhaon Rathore, Jyotsana Singh, Yash Khemka, Siddarth Sagar, Siddhangna Singh, Shrey Shah, Nazir Kamaal, Jyotsana Singh, Bharat Thapar, R Dutta, Milind Shadra, Rakesh Seth, Sudhir Verma.
