Ahead of summit, govt signs over 900 MoUs with investors

LUCKNOW: Ahead of two-day UP Investors’ Summit, the state government has signed over 900 memorandum­s of understand­ing (MoUs) with investors.

Addressing media persons here on Monday, industrial developmen­t minister Satish Mahana and infrastruc­ture and industrial developmen­t commission­er (IIDC) Anoop Chandra Pandey gave a detailed account of various sessions being organised at the Indira Gandhi Pratisthan.

Pandey said chief minister Yogi Adityanath would interact with the chief executive officers (CEOs) at a separate session.

He said the inaugural day would have country sessions on Finland, the Netherland­s and Japan. Pandey listed sessions and names of 16 union ministers and others who would chair various sessions.

These ministers include commerce and industry minister Suresh Prabhu, home minister Rajnath Singh, minister for surface transport Nitin Gadkari, minister for textiles Smriti Irani, minister of state for energy (independen­t charge) RK Singh, minister of state for food processing (independen­t charge) Harsimat Kaur Badal and minister of state for health Anupriya Patel.

“There will be sessions on propelling infrastruc­ture developmen­t in UP, MSMEs, food processing and dairy sector. Sessions on opportunit­ies in renewable energy, handlooms and textiles, pharmaceut­icals, bio-technology and tourism will also be organised,” he said. Defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman, minister of state for external affairs Gen VK Singh and civil aviation minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju would preside over various sessions on the second day, Pandey said.

“Sessions on Thailand, Mauritius and Slovakia will also be organised,” he said.

Meanwhile, two parking lots have been created at Gomti Nagar railway station and near Bank of Baroda from where the delegates would be ferried to the venue. Only gold pass holders will be allowed at the venue, officials said.
