‘Kaushlendra to file papers today’
ALLAHABAD: Deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Monday said BJP candidate for Phulpur Lok Sabha by-polls Kaushlendra Singh Patel would emerge victorious with a big margin.
Briefing media persons here, Maurya said he hoped Kaushlendra, who has also served the people of Varanasi as mayor in the past, would get the same love and support from the electorate in the Sangam City as he (Maurya) had received in 2014 Lok Sabha polls that Maurya won.
“It is true that rumours were afloat about someone from my family being in the race for contesting Phulpur by-polls but since I do not believe in dynastic politics the same did not happen. Kaushlendra will file his nomination on Tuesday after which canvassing would be launched in full swing,” he said.
“Party’s decision is supreme. The Phulpur electorate had chosen me in 2014 and I have tried my best to live up to their expectations. The remaining work of development after I took up the new responsibility will be completed by Kaushlendra,” he added. Lashing out at the Samajwadi Party and the Congress for their ‘misrule’, the deputy CM said their regime had ended and now the country was moving ahead on the path of progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Centre and chief minister Yogi Adityanath in Uttar Pradesh.
