UP Khadi products available on Amazon

LUCKNOW: A day before UP Investors Summit here, UP Khadi and Village Industries Board signed on Tuesday an MoU with Amazon India to e-market Khadi products and enable rural khadi artisans to directly sell their products to Amazon.in customers across the country.

UP Khadi and Village Industries minister Satya Dev Pachauri said more than 400 Khadi products would be sold by Amazon with the name UP Khadi. “Through the partnershi­p, 8 Khadi societies are active on Amazon.in,” the minister said.

Pachauri said, “Amazon India, as part of the pilot project, started conducting workshops since October 2017 in collaborat­ion with Khadi Board to educate Khadi Societies and Village Industries at locations such as Kanpur, Varanasi, Ghaziabad and Lucknow on e-marketing and online selling.”

“Through training, marketing, selling and delivery of various khadi and village industries products, we seek to drive change and transform the lives of rural artisans from across the state. We look forward to offering them the most comprehens­ive seller services and tools in their new digital journey,” said Gopal Pillai, director and general manager, Seller Services, Amazon India.

Navneet Sehgal, principal secretary, Khadi and Village Industries, UP government, said, “This partnershi­p will help promote our products to a larger customer base and boost sales which will be motivating for our rural artisans. Amazon India can really make a difference in facilitati­ng these gifted artisans & craftsmen to take advantage of the digital economy.”
