CM flags off 100 two-wheeler police response vehicles

LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath flagged off 100 twowheeler police response vehicles (PRV) from Kalidas Marg on Tuesday morning to improve patrolling and response time in urban areas.

Under the plan, a total of 1,600 two-wheelers equipped with modern gadgets will be added as PRVs in UP 100 facility by March 31. Addressing the gathering, the CM appreciate­d the efforts of senior UP police officials in improving law and order in the last 11 months.

“The continuous efforts to curb crime and promote community policing have helped in improving the image of UP police in the country,” he said. The CM said with the help of two-wheelers the response time of PRVs was expected to be reduced from 15 minutes to less than 10 minutes in densely-populated urban areas.

“Our aim is to provide early help to people in distress,” he said. Director general of police (DGP) OP Singh said two-wheeler PRVs were equipped with latest gadgets including mobile data terminal to get direct message from UP 100 call centre.

“It is equipped with LED lights, public address system, crime scene kit, microphone-enabled helmets, torch, mobile charging points, bottle holders and a utility box,” he said.

Singh added that policemen on two-wheeler PRVs would work in three shifts of eight hours each and a con stable accompanie­d by a home guard would be deployed for it .“A force comprising 75 sub inspectors ,5,625 constables and home guards each has been sanctioned for 1,600 two-wheeler PRVs. At district level, a sub-inspector will monitor the working of two-wheeler PRVs,” he said.

Singh said 1,600 two-wheeler PRVs had been purchased at a cost of Rs 11.33 crore and additional equipment were procured for Rs 6.54 crore. “At least 63 out of 1,600 two-wheelers are allocated for Lucknow while remaining will be deployed in other districts,” he said.

“The state government has earmarked Rs 105 crore for the purchase of 4,221 vehicles (3,318 two-wheelers and 903 four-wheelers) for UP 100, anti-terror squad, special task force, state disaster response force and district units of the police department,” Singh said.
