FOUR PRINCIPLES OF SPIRITUALITY TO LIVE BY AND KEEP THE FAITH
Over the past few days, I’ve been disturbed by the antics of fringe groups protesting on films misrepresenting religions, honour killings in the name of preserving communities and all this being branded as spiritualism.
Pondering over the issue, I recalled meeting a sadhu in Varanasi who said it was not important whether we believed in spirituality or not, so long as we understood and lived by the four principles of spirituality.
The First Principle: Whomsoever you encounter is the right one: No one comes into our life by chance. Everyone with whom we interact, represents something, whether to teach us something or to help us improve a current situation. Second: Whatever happened is the only thing that could have happened. That happening helps us to move forward in life. Every single situation in life, which we encounter, is perfect, even when it defies our understanding and our ego.
Third: Each moment in which something begins is the right moment: Neither earlier nor later! Fourth: What’s over, is over: When something in our life ends, it helps our evolution.
Pursue your goals ardently. However, if the outcome falls short, accept the result and move on. Be good to yourself and stay happy. Tomorrow will come, and when it does, keep the faith. Either you’ll receive what you are seeking or you’ll learn a lesson on how to better yourself and pay off your karmic debt.
