LUCKNOW: A colourless, odourless and ‘healthy alternative’ to cancer-causing, nicotine-laden tobacco pan masala seems almost too good to be true!

However, a Slovakiabased company claims to have done just this. It has made a drinkable uniqueclear-substance—Nuclear Shot—that has already been tested on humans and is now ready to be manufactured on a mass scale. The product would be available within two months in sachets priced around Rs 10 to 15 each.

Slovakian company— Nuclear, the expert in making clear beverages is in talks with UP government to set up its plant in Uttar Pradesh. “We are in talks with the government. The product would be available in next two months,” said Ritul Mendapara, who heads its operation in India. sked why UP had been shortlisted for the project, he said consumption of pan masala in the state was among the highest in the country.

NUCLEAR SHOT

The product is clean, clear and drinkable. It is a combination of 99.9% water and some natural extracts of nicotine. The extract is less than 0.1% that is enough to give a similar kick to the consumer, which he/she gets after consuming pan masala and gutkha, claimed Mendapara. Once consumed, he said, the shot’s effect would last for 5 hours.

TRIALS

The company, before reaching to any conclusion, did a field test in Mumbai. It shortlisted a group of gutkha eating people from Uttar Pradesh. “We gave our product to security guards, rickshaw pullers and labourers who were hard core tobacco chewers. After one week, the test result was beyond expectations.

“They (trial group) got the same kick, which they would get after having tobacco and did not feel the urge to go for their regular dose for about 5 hours,” said Mendapara.

BENEFITS

Nuclear shot, he said, had natural nicotine content that is permissible.

“It won’t stain teeth and neither will it cause cancer. Since it is drinkable, people would not spit as they do in the case of tobacco, hence public property would also remain clean,” he said.
