KANPUR: An FIR was lodged against district BJP president of Kanpur Dehat, Rahul Dev Agnihotri, his son along with 11 others for allegedly thrashing a senior staff member of Akbarpur toll plaza on February 28, a police official said.

The FIR was lodged by toll plaza manager on March 1, said Rishi Kant Shukla, SHO Akbarpur police station.

He added that the BJP leader’s close aide Satyendra Paswan also registered an FIR with Akbarpur police alleging that the toll plaza employees misbehaved with him and made casteist remarks.

“Both the cases are being investigated,” said Shukla.

Police said the trouble started when Agnihotri along with others tried to pass through the toll plaza without paying tax. Toll plaza controller Sudhir Srivastava refused to let them go that led to the imbroglio.

Shukla said a CCTV footage that apparently shows the BJP leader and his son thrashing the staffer was being examined.

However, Agnihotri alleged that the toll plaza employees misbehaved with them and didn’t allow their vehicles to go despite having the toll pass.

The toll plaza manager Manoj Sharma, in the FIR, said that the controller was assaulted, abused by the BJP president and other workers.

“All the staff members are in a state of panic,” he alleged.

THE FIR WAS LODGED BY TOLL PLAZA MANAGER ON MARCH 1, SAID RISHI KANT SHUKLA, SHO AKBARPUR POLICE STATION.
